Don Perkins is a Strategist and Operational Executive with the focus of a Growth Investor. With years as a consultant with McKinsey & Co., senior executive posts at GE and Allied Signal and the co-founder of his own investment fund, Don brings a broad perspective to business issues and opportunities. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University and An MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
In his early career, prior to business school, Don was a manufacturing manager for P&G Paper. Following his MBA he joined McKinsey & Co and worked in US and London UK offices focusing primarily on industrial clients with significant strategic challenges. After 5 years with the firm, Don was recruited into GE’s Business Development Group. During his first year, he led that group and worked closely with Jack Welch and Larry Bossidy. Don then moved to be General Manager in GE Silicones. After several years there, Don followed Bossidy to Allied Signal and was VP in the $5.5 billion Automotive business.
After Allied Signal, Don formed a $100 million early stage fund focusing primarily on helping young companies with new innovations penetrate existing markets. Recently, Don spent almost two years helping the CEO of AutoWeb complete a robust acquisition strategy.
Don has had significant Board experience. He was GE’s board representative on the GE/ Toshiba silicones JV in Japan (Tosil), sat on the board of 3rd Fed Bank, a regional Commercial Bank, and sat on the Boards of many portfolio companies of his fund.
